Description
The Barolo classico is a blend of nebbiolo coming from different crus in the villages of La Morra and Serralunga d’Alba. This gives the winery the possibility to play with different microclimates and soil compositions which results in a good balance. Revello is lucky to blend the two extremes of the Barolo district, with the elegance, fruitiness and floral notes coming from La Morra in the cru of Gattera, Conca, Bricco Manescotto and Annunziata and the more savory and firm tannins coming from Cerretta and Teodoro in Serralunga d’Alba.
Since starting to blend Nebbiolo from Serralunga in their Barolo classic, it’s not anymore an “entry level” Barolo, but a more serious wine with darker/earthy shades, long lasting tannins balancing the sweeter entry notes of La Morra. Due to a hail storm, hitting Bricco Manescotto and Annunziata, in 2019 some fruit was lost from La Morra, so 66% of the vineyards used for the Barolo Classico in 2019 are from Serralunga d'Alba. The result is a more structured, rich and powerful Barolo Classico.
