($37; 80% tempranillo, with garnacha, graciano and mazuelo) Deep ruby color. Explosively perfumed, complex aromas of cherry compote, tobacco, cedar, dried rose and black pepper. Deeply concentrated and lively, with suave red berry and cherry flavors and an undercurrent of candied rose and baking spices. Floral and dark chocolate notes define the impressively long, velvety and sharply focused finish. This is complex enough to drink now, and I'd consume it before the also outstanding 2004, which seems deeper and richer.
