Since 1925 the Straccali wine estate in Tuscany, founded by its namesake Giulio Straccali, has been in the vanguard of progressive Chianti wine producers. An expert enologist, entrepreneur, farmer and wine producer, Giulio Straccali was above all a man of vision. Through the wines of Tuscany, he sought to communicate to the rest of the world the scents, the colours and the flavours of his beloved homeland.
Grapes are hand picked from choice vineyards in the historic heart of the Chianti Classico zone. Terrains selected feature sandstone at higher altitudes of 1000-1800 feet, or finer, calcareous, clay soils below 1000 feet of altitude.
Maceration is 12-14 days. Once alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are complete, the wine ages 6-10 months in large oak casks and rests in bottle a further three months prior to release.
Grapes: 90% Sangiovese; combined with a blend of 10% Canaiolo and Merlot.
